Rub the pad over ordinary polish to wipe it away, a little at a time. On a bare nail the pad cleans off dust and oil so the next layer goes on a clean nail. (Pretend remover: no real products.)

The buffer works on the nail’s surface, not its edge: rub gently over the middle of a bare nail to smooth the little ridges and bring up a shine. Once it shines, stop. More buffing is not good for nails.

Filing leaves a little dust. Sweep it off with the soft brush before painting.

A clear base coat goes on before colour. Tap a nail, or use the buttons on the card. Ordinary polish air-dries in a few seconds of pretend time.

A last drop of nail oil at the cuticle makes it glow. Do this at the end: oil on the nail stops polish sticking.

A spa treatment for the whole hand: rub the scrub all over, then wipe it away with the warm towel.

Spread the mask over the hand, wrap it in warm mitts while it soaks in, then wipe it away with the warm towel.

Smooth lotion over the hand, then massage it in with gentle circles until it disappears. Lotion goes on the nails too, so wipe them with the pad before any polish.

The warm towel wipes away scrub, mask and leftover lotion.
